Hello my name is Ralph Leary. I started Leary Carpentry & Joinery up in 2017. Before that however I did 3 year apprenticeship though an old school carpenter called John Starzacher. Over the years I’ve done all forms of Carpentry work. First fix, second fix, roofing, cabinet making, kitchen fitting, bespoke, etc. I’ve gone around the Devon, Cornwall and London fitting out pubs for a company called trading spaces. Helping their amazing team build fixed seating, tables bespoke units and so on. My favourite form of carpentry and where I take the most pride and joy in my work is the bespoke/ cabinet making. Where I make custom/ bespoke items then go out on site and fit. I’m a friendly happy family man who loves spending time with my kids, and takes great pride in my work.

I carried out a carpentry apprenticeship over 20yrs ago and have worked in the trade ever since. I worked as a foreman where I picked up many other skills such as tiling, dry lining, decorating, plumbing etc. I was a site manager for around 5 years, looking after projects between £10-£2million. For the last 5 years I have worked as a contracts manager for a building company on projects across the UK. Although I enjoyed it I always had an eye on returning to my tools as this is what I do best.
