Windows & Doors (uPVC & Metal)- 10 Aug 2026
Got him to install a set of 2nd hand french doors but not happy with the finished result. He had to partly brick up a window to do this and the brickwork was very badly done. He didnt tie it into the existing bricks which I wasn't aware he wouldn't, the rows of bricks aren't in line with the existing bricks, there are gaps and bits of silicone left. When you look at the actual doors they have been installed wonky, the bottom right corner sits further into the room than any other point of the frame. I also informed him that the door catches sometimes when trying to close. . Additional, the quote he gave me said specifically it included removal of bricks, we agreed he would leave the old window/door but nothing else. On site he then said he wouldnt be taking any of the rubble/bricks with him. I informed him of all this and he agreed to come back and fix. After several weeks of hearing nothing he then turned round and said he wouldn't come back to fix this anymore unless I paid. Avoid!

Are you fully qualified and insured?

It’s best to choose a door fitter in Birkenhead who has proper qualifications and insurance to handle the installation safely. Look for certifications like FENSA and confirm that the fitter carries public liability insurance to cover any potential damage to your property.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

A local Birkenhead door fitter should offer a warranty for both the door and the installation. This ensures that any issues with the door or fitting will be addressed without additional cost for a specified period, typically 1–2 years for installation.

Do you need to conduct a survey before installation?

Birkenhead door fitters may conduct a pre-installation survey to ensure the door fits properly. This involves taking measurements and assessing the condition of the door frame to avoid issues during the fitting process.

What is the estimated timeline for installation?

The Birkenhead fitter should provide a clear timeline for how long the installation will take. A typical installation can take anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on the complexity of the job and the number of doors being fitted.
