Flat dormer raised to pich roof. A mix of old and new felt.

Transparent. Yes a good description of the new white felt. Infact had to look twice to realise there was felt there at all ! The old bituminous felt hanging down looks untidy. Would you advise sticking back or am i ok to trim that off ? Do I need to wear a mask ?

as long as its overhanging the beams and the new breathable membrane is in place its excess you can trim it if you want. it up to you if you wear a mask. but you don't have to .
