Fencing

Installing a fence at the end of my drive, inbetween mine and neighbouring property.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.56 PM

Hi, I would like to install a fence at the end of my drive to secure the back garden - at the moment the drive opens straight into the garden and you can see into the garden from the street. The fence would be positioned inbetween my property and the neighbouring property, butting up against the external walls. Whats the best method for securing the end fence posts; screwing them to the wall, can i screw them to my neighbours wall? Or is it ok to only secure them in the ground, which is a layer of gravel over mud and hardcore (mainly broken bricks)? Cheers, Andy

I would recommend that you aproach you neighbour and see if they are ok with you fixing it to their wall. This would be the best option. Another option is digging and putting the post into the ground but you may hit a few problems, 1 being shallow footings, another could be domestic household services .I hope this helps. Many Regards.

If the land next to your neighbours house is yours then the best option would be to concrete the posts in approx 2 feet with 6 feet remaining. This would save any disputes with the current neighbour and any future neighbours that you may have. George
