damp chimney breast in bedroom

the chimney breast on the gable end of my house (bedroom) has damp patch at the top where it meets the ceiling and the top part of the wall itself is wet. how do I solve this issue ?

Hi there could be an external problem flashing deteriorated around the chimney then letting water by or the flue is not ventilated causing condensation in side the breast which is then coming through the bricks or a open flue on the pot itself letting rain water in would need to look at it to determine cause Regards Joseph
