How to patch under skirting.
C L Sullivan 05/11/2026 - 8.04 AM
We have removed skirting in prep for new flooring and found that an external wall appears to have little to no plaster at skirting level. The corner of the wall had developed damp patches, and slugs have been geeting in somehow, possibly there. What could we do as fix ourselves?

I’d check the cause of the damp before doing any repairs. Have a look at the external brickwork, pointing and ground levels, and check for gaps where slugs might sneak in. Once the source of moisture is sorted and the wall has dried out, remove any loose plaster and make good with a suitable repair mortar or plaster. Don’t fit the new skirting until the area is completely dry.
