Short term fix?

We are aware that the letterbox on our front door is leaking. We have pulled up flooring in preparation for tiling and found a large damp patch at door edge. We know we will have to replace them, but what could we do to stop watrr damage in short term? New seals? Gorrilla tape on edges?

Seal under the cill make sure the cill and the end of the frame is sealed seal round letter box
