Plaster or dot and dab?

I have a bare brick extension that will eventually be a kitchen. What is the best way for this to plastered. Plasterboard and skim or sand/ cement then skim?

I would definitely go for sand and cement render then skim over plaster-boarding. This will give you much more secure/stronger fixings for your kitchen units.
