Earth missing fault
Anonymous user 03/11/2026 - 8.07 AM
Hi on a ring main at the back of the house (which has multiple sockets) just 2 sockets in separate locations are showing an earth missing fault when a plug in socket tester is used. All the other sockets on the ring appear fine, my obvious check is to remove the sockets and see if the earth wiring has come loose. One socket is an MK 2 gang with USB and the other one is a three gang MK one no USB. The 3 gang socket also has a fused spur taken off to power an outside light with 3A fuse. In order to try and resolve the issue if there was no loose wires I was planning to try a replacement sockets just in case of a socket fault. The ring is on an mcb 32A in the consumer unit. If the earth wiring is secure in both sockets and I try a replacement and have no joy what would be my next steps, any advice welcome. Thanks
