Anonymous user 15/10/2026 - 3.40 PM

Is a solid concrete base or slabs best for a 8x6 ft shed?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

strength wise, a concrete slab will always win.. however its going to cost more than a paved base.. which would be perfectly good enough for a shed of that size. especially if you can source reclaimed slabs etc to keep costs down.

For an 8×6 ft shed (2.44 × 1.83 m), make the concrete base slightly larger than the shed, typically around 2.5 × 1.9 m, with a properly compacted hardcore/sub-base underneath. One important point: don’t make the slab excessively thick. For a typical garden shed, around 100 mm (4 in) of concrete over a well-compacted sub-base is generally appropriate, with reinforcement depending on the ground and shed i hope it helps

Concrete is best but if slabs are correctly laid, they will suffice. The only only is one slab sinks or shifts, it affects the whole floor.

Hi, it purely depends on what you want to achieve. If you want this to be to the best spec possible go concrete but if you want to save money slabs can work as well
