On going re roof , they found bird nest which have been removed. 2 years ago, we belive the bird died and it created black insects like a dozen of them which was eventually killed. The roofers wil clean however is it wise to remove insulation and put new in?

I would remove it and spray the contaminated area, we have come across similar and it was small foreign wood worm type insects that were near by the birds nest
