Oiler working but radiators not heating up
Anonymous user 09/10/2026 - 3.13 PM
My boiler seems to be working fine. I can get hot water to the taps but my radiators aren’t getting warm. They’re stone cold I’ve felt the hot water pipe and it only got hot for about 2 inches. I then bled all my radiators and now the hot water pipe seems to travel for about 8 inches before it then goes cold again it seems like I’ve got some circulation issue was fine last winter only today that he boilers come on again and I’m now having an issue.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Oliver, first check the pressure on the boiler; if it's low, you need to top it up. There is a special valve underneath the boiler, or a valve on a flexible silver hose; open it and watch the gauge on the boiler to see if the pressure rises. If it does, that's good. Once the boiler starts running, check the radiators, as they might be airlocked—there is a small bleed valve at the top; open it and wait until water flows out, then you'll need to top up the boiler pressure again. Good luck, Joseph.
