Bathroom Fitting

Wetroom to shower tray

Michaela 08/10/2026 - 8.57 AM

Hello, I have a wetroom but with safety vinyl but I want to put a shower tray and screen instead, is this a big job to replace? The wetroom is newly fitted maybe in the last 2 years.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hey Michaela! I totally get why you're asking. Since your wetroom was newly fitted maybe in the last 2 years, it definitely feels a bit tough to start changing things up already! To be totally honest, it is quite a big job. Switching from a wetroom with safety vinyl to a shower tray and screen means: You'll need to alter or replace the existing drainage setup to accommodate a standard shower tray. You'll have to cut into or remove parts of the safety vinyl that was installed just a couple of years ago. Even though the bathroom is relatively new, you should expect some disruption and plumber costs because you are basically restructuring the shower area. If you're really over the wetroom look, it can definitely be done, but it's best to have a professional check out your current drainage first. Hope this helps!
