Front door removal and hall extension

I wish to install a downstairs toilet.The most practical way to do this appears to be by removing the present front door and building an extension including a new front door.This should give more room to install a downstairs toilet. I don't think planning permission would be needed as this would be a permitted development. Is this correct?

This depends on where you live and the local authority planing rules, normally you can build a porch on the front of your house up to 3 square metres, but if a toilet/cloakroom is added you will need planning. Just go on to your local planning portal on line and check if this is the case where you live.

Hi there sometimes are mitigating factors including if new structural openings are required and where on the property they will be for example on a corner/supporting while planning permission isn’t necessary structural plans may be required.
