I have a dishwasher and washing machine next to each other. They are currently plugged in 13a sockets above the worktop. As we are have new worktops I need to fit switch spurs above the worktop. Can I spur the from the existing twin socket to below the worktop?

Yes, provided the existing twin socket is confirmed as being directly on the ring final circuit and not already a spur. I’d extend the ring through two separate 13A DP switched FCUs above the worktop, with each FCU supplying its own socket below for the washing machine and dishwasher. The ring continuity, conductor size, protective device and RCD protection should be verified before alteration.
