New socket

Hi there, If it is confirmed that the socket you wish to spur from is part of a healthy ring then regualtions allow for one further socket as a spur (or radial) from that point. In reality, the testing required to safely accomplish this end is, in my view, beyond any safe working practices for an unskilled person. There are many condiserations beyond that, not least of all, the cumulative insulation that surrounds the entire circuit. If it exceeds 500mm (20", not that far) then 2.5mm2 cable would be insufficient, why I only use 4mm2 cable for such purposes. Even then I would prefer to use two 25A radials, a far safer and more reliable install. Furthermore you would have three cables in each of the terminals at the source socket. The chances of one of those coming loose (we've all seen it) is higher. I would ferrule crimp all three of each conductor preventing that. Best regards DE Solutions

Regs say 1 additional socket may be added to an existing circuit as a spur. Its recommended to have the 2 Sockets close to each other, otherwise adding another socket into the ring would be more adequate.
