How to fix paint tearing after removing masking tape?
Stephen Shevlin 17/09/2026 - 8.48 AM
Hi All, Have painted my kitchen wall with a kitchen emulsion paint to cover up a plaster repair. In a few places after taking masking tape following paint drying off a bridge of paint film formed and I removed some paint as well. How should I fix/amend this?

Unfortunately if the paint has come off and you want a smooth finish you would have to filler and sand the area then prime and paint.

Good morning,
Was it the new paint or old paint under the masking tape that pealed off with the tape?
If it’s the old paint under the masking tape either the tape was left on there for 2 long or was just old paint and flakey.
If it’s the new paint, you left paint to dry to much before pealing tape off, ideally after painting wait 5 mins so that the paint has started to set a little then remove the tape. If you wait for paint to dry it will peal off with tape.
Thanks Richard
