Insulation

topping up over a boarded loft floor

Anonymous user 20/10/2026 - 8.09 AM

my mid terrace ex council house,1 mile from the sea,has minimal loft insulation that's fully chip boarded over.I don't want to take that up but wish to improve insulation .The loft is purely for storage and the south aspect slate tiles may have solar pv panels added. Will blanket be the best solution over the chipboard or should I consider making it a warm loft with under rafter foil.

We would recommend leaving the roof trusses to breath without foreign objects blocking the circulation of air flow. In your situation you can easily insulate over the floored area.
