To safely turn off main domestic power: Turn Off Circuit Breakers: Open the consumer unit (fuse box) door and switch all individual MCBs/RCBOs off first to prevent arcing. Switch Main Isolator Off: Switch the main double-pole isolator switch (usually large/red, labeled Main Switch) to the OFF position. Older Fuse Boards: Pull the main isolator lever down before removing individual fuses. Note: Never break the seal on the DNO service fuse next to the meter.
