That very much depends on what condition the tiles are in. If the tiles are sound then overboarding would be the cheapest option but you would lose some space in the room. If the tiles are loose then you will need to remove them before boarding or plastering. Removing tiles is a time consuming job if they are well adhered to the wall and it’s this labour cost that can make the project more expensive.
