Double skinned wall with upright concrete blocks & imperial bricks.
Peter Byrne 02/09/2026 - 7.52 AM
I want to build a wall about 800mm in front of an existing wall which will become a raised bed. The front wall will be about 1m high and 5m long. Providing the two skins are properly tied, can this wall be built laying standard dense concrete blocks upright (longest side horizontal) for the inner skin, and imperial bricks flat for the outer skin?

This will work fine , you will just need to put a bigger bed joint on the Blockwork to make up the difference in gauges
