Double skinned retaining wall

Can i build a 1m high double skinned retaining wall, laying standard dense blocks upright (longest side horizontal) for ithe inner skin and standard bricks flat for the outer skin. The wall will be about 5m long.

Would be better to lay the block flat. Tie the brick into the blockwork every three courses with butterfly ties, and remember drainage holes for any water that could be trapped behind.

Yes it is ok to build a 1mtr high wall,
the way you want to make sure you have a suitable foundation .Plus wall tyes to tye both skins together. Istall weep holes for drainage. Use a header course or coping stones to the top.
