Advance payment required?

A deposit on an agreed quote/job is often normal. Especially a big job or bigger job like a bathroom refurbishment. However If it’s a small repair job normally the repair gets done then the fees are paid in full after, small builders may take a small fee upfront to have both parties committed to the agreed works. Most builders would do small jobs/repairs without a deposit.

I would not recommend handing over any money to anyone you’ve. It met or hasn’t looked at the job I personally do take a deposit to cover materials but not before I have seen the job and gave you a price for the work and materials usually on a quote or invoice with a cost breakdown of there is any concern about deposits I set the order up through the merchant and I put a reference on it so you can call up and pay directly and supply the delivery address so you know the order is coming to you . Hi, the advance payment is to cover the cost of materials required for the job. We wouldn’t expect you to pay for materials before we understand what is needed. We would first assess the bathroom leak and identify the cause. Once we know what work and materials are required, we can explain this to you and confirm the cost before you make any payment. Any deposit requested would only be once the work required has been agreed with you.
