Primer

Yes, SikaBond SBR can be used as a primer on a properly prepared rendered bathroom wall before applying tile adhesive and heavy tiles. Dilute and apply it according to Sika’s instructions, and allow it to dry fully before tiling. Make sure the render is sound, fully cured, clean and free from dust or loose material. For heavy or large-format tiles, use a suitable flexible cement-based tile adhesive rated for the tile and substrate. If the wall is in a shower or other area receiving direct water, SBR primer alone is not a waterproofing/tanking system. A suitable tanking system should be used before tiling.
