Hi, I have a question for window and door fitters. Is it normal to ask customers to pay the full cost of the windows/doors upfront before ordering them? Or do you usually ask for a smaller deposit and cover the cost yourself until installation? I'm just trying to understand what's considered standard practice. Thanks.

Hi
At Conservatech we only ask for a 25% deposit then if the installation is for one day you pay the balance on completion of work, if the work is over several days you will pay a payment on first day of installation and then a final payment on completion of works.

All depends on specification and overall cost to us as a business. I am self employed sole trader so anything i fork out upfront literally comes out of my pocket. Big jobs like a whole house replacement i would ideally want up to a 50% deposit for the whole job (Which very rarely pays for materails upfront).
