Can you Skim without removing skirting boards

Anonymous user 24/07/2026 - 1.29 PM

I am due to have some skimming done in x3 bedrooms, all rooms are prepared but I would like to keep the existing skirting board and architrave and the man doing the job is happy with this. However my dad says it won’t be a good quality finish, time and money are what are holding me back having to replace them. What do other professionals think??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Cover the archetrave and skirting boards with masking tape to protect them keep the tape about two mil away from the wall so that the plasterer can finish in line with the masking tape remove the tape on completion of work you should now see a clean finish between the archetrave and the wall and the skirting boards and the wall
