Removing tarmac driveway
Anonymous user 30/07/2026 - 7.56 AM
Hi My existing tarmac driveway goes right up to the brickwork of my house on two sides. I want to remove 40mm in order to lay a new tarmac surface. I can’t overlay as it would get too close to the dpc. The contractor says that this should be easy with a digger. However, I have been told that using a digger so close to the house could damage the walls and foundation and that he should use an angle grinder and hand tools to remove the sections of tarmac that are against the walls. This has made me very uneasy and a bit stressed. Should I let him use the digger or should I find someone prepared to use an angle grinder and hand tools. I would be very grateful for any advice. Thank you.
