Cooker hood fan motor

Hi all, Replacement fan has more wires than the old broken one. Old= 4 times wires ( blue, black, white , orange) New replacement= 5 wires (blue, black, white, orange and yellow) Any thoughts please? Any thoughts please? Thanks, Mark

The extra yellow wire on the new cooker‑hood motor is usually just an extra speed tap or a capacitor connection. Your hood probably doesn’t use it. The other colours normally match the original speeds and neutral.To be sure, you only need one thing: a photo of the wiring diagram or label on the new motor. That tells us exactly what the yellow does.
