Right hand lug on back box has fallen off!
Sandra Crane 13/07/2026 - 11.19 AM
Help! Yes I’m a woman and a novice but I’m learning! Trying to change old two gang socket switches for more modern. When trying to attach faceplate, right screw tightens then spins. Now the blooming lug has fallen off! How can I repair this without having to change the back box. I think they were fitted in around 2007.

If the tabs are still intact and you have the lug I have had success reattaching. If the lug is missing I have taken one from another back box. If the tabs are broken all is not lost you can buy a back box repair clip you can get these online or visit you local electrical wholesaler. To fix the a spinning screw see if the screw has thread it may been stripped you can re do the thread on the lug with a tap if needed. You can buy one with a handle at Screwfix for £4.
