Sealing a wall with neat PVA by mistake...!

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.55 PM

Are there any negative knock-on effects from accidentally sealing bathroom walls by painting on neat PVA? (I didn't realise I was supposed to dilute with water)... Some of the walls will be painted and the rest tiled around a shower bath.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Should be fine.... maybe wash the walls down a little with plain water using a roller or brush. Feel the wall - does it feel like the tiles will stick? If in doubt, put a couple of tiles on and check them 24 hrs later.... if you have trouble pulling them off, then once grouted they'll never move!

No negative effects at all other than where the thick PVA dries lumpy, it may need scraping/sanding off if wall is to be painted.
