EV Charging
Dean Patrick 07/07/2026 - 12.28 PM
Hi, I currently live at the end of a cul de sac, we have a shared driveway with 3 other houses and my garage and designated space is the 2nd one along, can anyone tell me what my potential options are for charging at home?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You have a parking space and a garage so it should be fine. The only thing you don't mention is if you want the charger inside the garage or outside? If you have a bit of wall space it can go outside otherwise it will have to go inside the garage which might be a problem if you want the car outside the garage whilst charging (the garage door will have to be left open). If the cable route to the garage crosses another garage (it appears you have the middle garage of 3?) then you will need to seek permission for the cable run. If you are lucky there may be a duct already in place that can be used otherwise a route will need to be found to install the cable and permission from your neighbour to install it. Your best bet is to get an Electrician in to give you advise on the options it needs to be seen in the flesh for this and all the other things that need to be considered regarding installing an EV charger, such as MD, Supply, Consumer Unit or Intake position etc.
