In most cases, a shower and toilet can be installed in an existing loft conversion, subject to a site survey and confirmation of structural suitability, drainage routes, water supply, ventilation, and compliance with current Building Regulations. As the loft was converted over 20 years ago without planning permission, it would be advisable to obtain a Letter of Comfort from West Lothian Council and carry out a full assessment before proceeding. A professional inspection will determine whether any upgrades or remedial works are required to safely accommodate a loft bathroom.
