Bathroom Fitting

shower door

Anonymous user 08/06/2026 - 2.25 PM

Should a shower door be fitted to wall using screws and will this brake the tiles when driling holes. Or is it normal to use silicone to fix the frame to wall instead

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Good afternoon, I would always mechanically fix with screws, purchase a good diamond tile drill, and bead down the center with silicone and install, never silicone the inside always the outside. Hope this helps. Thanks steve

Both screws and silicone are used to fix and seal a shower enclosure to the wall. Tiles will not break when screwed for rawlplugs. Silicone seals the water inside the enclosure and acts as an adhesive holding the unit to the wall. Neither screws nor silicone should be used without the other.
