Correct vapour barrier
MR ALYAS GUL 10/06/2026 - 7.59 AM
Hi, I have a new concrete floor, when dry i want to lay laminate flooring. I understand i need a vapour barrier. Is the following appropriate for placing between a dry screed floor and laminate underlay: https://www.wickes.co.uk/NDC-1000-Gauge-Black-Damp-Proof-Membrane-4X12-5m/p/152859 Thanks in advance.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,
Yes, the 1000 gauge damp proof membrane you linked should be suitable as a vapour barrier beneath laminate flooring, provided the screed is completely dry and within the recommended moisture levels. Make sure the joints overlap and are sealed with appropriate tape before installing the underlay and laminate.
However, if your laminate underlay already has a built-in vapour barrier, you may not need an additional membrane.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
