Front support for 12 mm worktop

Anonymous user 05/06/2026 - 10.36 AM

there is a Worktop being installed at the moment at a property that I’m managing and we have been advised that across the dishwasher and washing machine there needs to be a Suport at the front as well because this is a very slim Worktop can anyone please advise if there is a risk of sagging or cracking without front Suport?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

For a very slim worktop like this, and an unsupported length of 1200mm (which would cover two appliances) yes you should have some support. You could put in a vertical panel (front to back) between and either side of the appliances. Or supporting poles. You don't say how long the worktop is, or how its supported either side of the appliances, but to be useful as a worktop, secure and not prone to sagging, you should have support at least every 600mm of its length.
