I would avoid tungsten blades and aggressive grinding discs entirely on old painted brick. The risk of permanently scarring the brick is high. Nylon abrasive wheel/brush on a drill - Much gentler than steel wire - Removes remaining paint without chewing the brick face - Look for “stripper wheels” or non-woven abrasive wheels.
