Tap is leaking

Anonymous user 21/04/2026 - 8.19 AM

Hi, my kitchen sink tap is leaking from the tap itself and now it’s starting to leak from under the sink in the cupboard. Can I fix this myself? Any tips? Thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It could be anything from a split seal to replacing the tap. Would be happy to come take a look at this for you to diagnose the issue.

This leak could be from a number of places, the washers may need replacing, the pipe could be worn. If your confident in isolating the supply, and dismantling the tap from the sink then no harm in trying yourself. However bear in mind that it may not be a simple fix and could be made worse, so definitely worth allowing a skilled person to have a look.

Hi, this sounds like two separate issues. If the tap itself is leaking, it’s usually a worn cartridge or internal seal. The leak under the sink is likely from either the flexi hoses, isolation valves, or waste pipe connections. You can try: • Tightening the connections under the sink • Checking for any loose or dripping flexi hoses • Turning water off and inspecting the tap base However, if it’s leaking from both areas, it’s often quicker and more cost-effective to replace the tap and reseal everything properly. I can come out, diagnose it properly and fix it same day if needed.
