Could this gap be causing a damp wall?

Harry Carter 16/04/2026 - 7.57 AM

We have a damp wall closer to the floor of our upstairs bedroom. The wall is external and there appears to be a gap between the wood fascia board and the wall. The rendering looks ok. Could the gap be letting damp in?

Unlikely, if you have cavity wall insulation it could be tracking through a hairline crack in the render or it could be a problem with eaves. Eaves trays may need to be installed if felt or membrane has perished.

If the facia or soffit is not correctly secured against the wall. Meaning rain can get blown into the wall cavity and roof space eventually running down to the wall causing damp
