Wooden Lintel above garage door

Anonymous user 18/03/2026 - 7.50 AM

Hello. I need to replace my old garage door and there is a wooden frame above it. The roof already has beams across it horizontally and i am pretty sure its not load bearing as the wooden frame i intend to remove isnt strong wood. (Approx 300mm x 300m) Can i simply replace the frame with strong wooden beam as a lintel? I intend to replace the old garage door with a new roller one. Cheers

I wood call in a builder to take a look, Better still a structural engineer to take a look and do calculations first.
