Why is the "new" conservatory leaking when the old one didn?t.
Anonymous user 16/03/2026 - 11.04 AM
We have had a replacement conservatory with a solid roof to replace an old one that was wobbly but not leaking. The new conservatory has leaks both sides and has wet the plaster so much that we now have black mould on the plaster. The installer has been back several times and claims its not their work that has caused this problem. How come the old conservatory never leaked but the new one does? We never has wet walls and windows before. What can we do and how can we take this further ?

It does sound like it is something to do with the new roof. It could be a simple fix like the flashing not being installed correctly. If the original installers are not helping I would get a couple of reputable roofers to take a look and hopefully they agree on what the problem is. Otherwise it might mean part of the new roof being removed to see what`s going on and if there is something obvious it can be quoted for. If its more involved I would pay for an independent RICS survey that can be used in court if it goes that far

It's probably a faulty flashing installation
