Rubber roof put over existing extractor fan with fibreglass insulation

Anonymous user 02/03/2026 - 2.24 PM

Recently had roof done and our extractor fan has been covered over with the rubber roof. Fibreglass insulation was used instead of insulation boards. Is this ok or will the condensation from the shower room cause dampness and mould in the insulation. The roof is a large area so was told from the company that it would circulate no problem in there, just looking for advice on this as im unsure ?

This is dampness waiting to happen, you are correct the extractor should be vented to the outside, it doesn't matter the size of the area you have no air flow below your boards so all the air from the bathroom is just building up until it eventually rots either the boards or the ceiling don't be surprise to find your roofer now don't want to know you. Good luck Alex
