Hi Angela, I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this — that sounds extremely stressful. From what you’ve described, it sounds like the flat roof may have been installed without the correct fall (gradient), which would explain water running the wrong way and spilling over the side. A flat roof should always have a slight slope to direct water toward the outlet. If that hasn’t been formed properly in the structure (not just the covering), it won’t drain correctly and can cause internal damp and mould like you’re experiencing. At this stage, I would recommend: 1. Getting an independent roofer to inspect and provide a written report on the installation. 2. Documenting everything — photos, videos during rainfall, damaged carpets/walls. 3. Sending the original roofer a formal written request (email or recorded letter) giving them 14 days to respond and rectify the issue. 4. If they continue to ignore you, you may need to go through small claims or trading standards depending on the contract value. If the fall is wrong structurally, unfortunately it can mean lifting and reinstalling sections properly — patch repairs usually won’t solve it long term. If you’d like, I’m happy to take a look and give you an honest assessment of what’s gone wrong and what your options are. Regards Reliable Roofing UK
