Replacing Mira event power shower with a new Mira event xs
Anonymous user 23/02/2026 - 11.26 AM
Hi, Our very old Mira Event power shower (now discontinued) has stopped working properly and the pressure is very weak. We are planning to replace it with a new Mira Event XS model. Would installing the new unit require any changes to the existing pipework, or cause any damage to the tiles?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Often the new version has been changed/upgrade so due to that often it requires new holes in tiles and slightly different position of the new version.
The pipework shouldn't have to be changed

The Mira XS will probably need some minor changes to connect and fit.
I usually suggest installing a thermostatic bar mixer with a separate pump in the airing cupboard. Makes for a quieter shower and usually a better flow rate. Exposed chrome pipes replace internal feeds.

If you’re replacing an old Mira Event with a new Mira Event XS, in most cases it’s designed as a like-for-like replacement — but there are a few things to check before assuming it will be straightforward.

One of the most disadvantages of this system is that, once the machine stops working automatically the flow sensor also stops. Therefore, the shower couldn't be used again as a result of waste water stagnant. This is really common on most old properties.
However, in order to be installing any type of electric shower, the waste needs to be converted to manual. By removing the old waste with 22mm pipe and change it to waste with 40mm which can be connected directly to the soil pipe and pump will be taken out of the system.
