Generator

I work for a charity community garden who are in the final stages of opening a coffee kiosk. The site has no mains electric so this will be powered by a portable generator housed in a wooden shed about 1.5m from the coffee kiosk. Can you house a generator in a wooden shed and it be safe to use as I am reading many warnings about the dangers of doing this and would really appreciate some specialist knowledge. I don't want to be unsafe but also don't want to be a negative nelly so really need expert advice and it's a minefield reading online!

I wouldn’t recommend running a portable generator inside a wooden shed. Even with ventilation, there is a serious carbon monoxide risk, which can build up quickly in enclosed spaces.
Current safety guidance is that generators should only be used outdoors in open air, positioned well away from buildings with the exhaust directed away from people.
Because this is a public coffee kiosk, I’d strongly advise siting it fully outdoors rather than inside a shed.

Generators should be outside, in a ventilated area, they are made to be outside, just ensure where the the cable is protected going into the building.
