Rear conservatory over sewer – build over agreement question
Albert Hoekman 02/02/2026 - 3.15 PM
We’re planning a small rear conservatory (approx. 2m deep) on a terraced house in West Thamesmead. We’ve confirmed there is a shared sewer/manhole under the existing patio and understand a Thames Water Build Over Agreement will be required. I’d like to hear from builders who have done similar jobs – is this usually a straightforward approval for a conservatory, and is there anything specific we should allow for in the foundations or design? We’re gathering advice before appointing a builder.
