Low water flow pressure and how to improve it
Brian Tootill 14/11/2025 - 7.59 AM
Hello, The water flow pressure from the pavement is running between 20 – 25 lpm, but my internal and external taps are only running at about 10 lpm. So I was wondering how do I get the water flow pressure running to at least 15 – 16 litres per minute as I’m having a heat pump fitted hopefully in the next few months. United Utilites moved the external stopcock off my property onto the pavement a couple of weeks ago. That's when the flow pressure was tested. Because the low pressure is on my propery the problem has been left with me!!

You may need to upgrade your supply pipe (from your water meter to your stop valve) and in your home also where you need greater water flow to a larger diameter pipe. The pipe's diameter and any obstruction (rust /scale) will affect your water flow rate.
