Two thermostat in one house

Anonymous user 04/11/2025 - 7.59 AM

Hello, I’d like to put two thermostats in our two storey home as the ground floor tends to stay cooler whilst the first floor gets quite warm. We bought the house recently, there were never two thermostats so assume the centro heating doesn’t have a multi zone system. Is it still possible to install a second thermostat upstairs? If not, what’s the best solution? Many thanks.

To get upstairs and downstairs heating, you’d need to repipe some of the heating system to separate it into two zone.

An S plan system require to achieve this different zones with the different heating preferences around the house. The basic S plan( if there is one ) can be expanded by adding more valves and thermostats to create multiple heating zones, a system known as S plan plus. This allows for things like separate control of different floors.
