How should I fit my engineered wood in my loft bedroom?
Anonymous user 07/10/2025 - 8.40 AM
I have a new loft bedroom in my Victorian house. Its current subfloor is ply. What is the best form of prep and fitting method. I'm keen to minimise noise.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You should choose a sound proof, thermal underlay, and lay this first, over a clean. dry flat subfloor. Let the wood floor acclimatise in the room for a few days before fitting. Lay the floor along the longest wall. Make sure you measure the width of the room and divide by the width of a board to ensure you don't have a run of skinny boards. You can add a little glue into the groove for a more stable floor.
