Garage doors to french door installation question

Lee Sainsbury 26/09/2025 - 8.11 AM

Hi all, I've just had two garage doors replaced for french doors with a low aluminium threshold. I have a concern regarding the installation I wanted to ask about. The side frames at the bottom and the entire threshold is all caulked at the bottom on both doors on the inside and the outside, I've never seen something like this before, it doesn't seem right to me. The caulk at the bottom has basically been spread onto the concrete where it meets the floor on both inside and outside. Thanks for any advice!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Caulking doesn't sound like a proper job, especially for an external entrance. Typically French doors will be set on fresh mortar and/or silicone sealant. Side frames should have expanding foam to help with thermals whilst the base needs to be water tight. Without pictures it is hard to say, but from your description it does sound questionable.
