Installing new sink thats slightly deeper - is there an issue?

Alexander Anderson 22/12/2025 - 8.02 AM

I’m looking to replace my current kitchen sink and would be great to get some advice before I go ahead. • Current sink: about 15 cm deep, 1 main basin + 1 waste basin, inset into the worktop. • New sink: 20 cm deep, same configuration. • Plumbing setup: We have a dishwasher outpipe connected to the waste pipe. My main concern is whether the extra depth (5 cm more) could cause issues with the existing waste pipe height or with the dishwasher connections. We have cupboard space for the extra 5cm. Is this a typical job for a plumber to e.g. adjust the existing pipe configuration to install the new sink? Is there any concerns about the extra 5cm depth of the new sink? Thanks in advance!

That shouldn't matter, as long as the sink wont hit anything in the cupboard, all pipework can be modified to suit.
